The method for unlocking your PSP that I recommend

The method of unlocking the Sony PSP on this site only works for versions 5.03 and lower. Before you go ahead and attempt the unlock, you need to make sure you’re running the right firmware version on your PSP so you know if it will work or not.

Here is how to check:

1. On your main screen, scroll over to “Settings” .

2. Once in Settings, go to “System Settings” and press ‘x’ button.

3. Now scroll down to “System Information” ( its last but one on the list ) and click ‘x’ .

4. When you’re in System Information, Your firmware version is the number after “System Software”. If it’s 5.03 or lower, you will be able to unlock your PSP by using the method talked about on this site. If it’s anything higher, you will need to downgrade.

If you are running firmware above 5.03 you will need to downgrade. To learn how to downgrade any PSP with firmware 5.50 or lower click here.

If you have psp frimware higher than 5.50 or you still wan’t to use a pandora battery for any reason the best deal I have seen is here at Amazon for $6.95. This is just the basic pandora battery, you will still need a magic memory card, you can get an extended life pandora battery with a huge memory8GB magic memory stick here.
